If you’re part of a nonprofit team, then your world was thrown upside down just like mine was in March of 2020. Much of nonprofit fundraising centers on events, and when event-based fundraising goes out the window for the next 3? 6? 12? 15? months…we all feel the shockwave.

When my March 14th event cancelled (at 2:00 p.m. on March 13th), I realized that our entire industry was going to be lost, confused, and unsure of our next steps. So, I got to work.

Beginning Monday, March 16th, I hosted a daily Zoom meeting for fundraising professionals with the goal to come out of this #BetterAfterBreak. Nearly every day until May 22nd (10 weeks) I led discussions, took notes, studied virtual galas, interviewed early adopters and started organizing tips, links and resources. Now that my own clients are doing virtual galas, I have firsthand knowledge to add to all of that.
